Hi Everybody!

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to shut down CVGM. Since August 2009, CVGM has been a daily part of my life and I am surely going to miss it. Ive met some amazing people over the years, listened to some banging tunes and made many friends for life. I'd like to thank each and every person who has been using CVGM, for their time, their effort, and donations in the way of music, equipment and monetary.

I've been searching for a while for a cheaper/better alternative to host the site and have not come up with any viable options. The site is resource hungry, and at times can use a lot of system resources with streams etc. so things like cheap VPS's typically don't work very well. The datacenter I use has more than doubled the cost of hosting CVGM, and while it's fun to host the site, its now reached the territory where it's getting too expensive to maintain yearly for a hobby. So rather than hop around on different platforms and systems, I thought it best to close it down permanently. The last day for CVGM to be online will be April 30th. I had hoped to finish the new codebase before then, and it might still happen in the future, I just don't have any timeframe for that as of yet.

This is not a decision I have come up with lightly. I hope everyone understands, and I know i will still see most of you around in various places such as Nectarine. Feel free to comment on other places to listen to as well, would love to keep in touch with all of you!!

Sad news, but I understand.

This has become a place to hang out and chill out for me, all those years fond of the people and songs here.

May Fishy get filthy rich someday, so he doesn't need to work anymore and have enough free time to ressurect CVGM. I'll be waiting...

And if you ever create a torrent with all the songs, I'd be happy to download it and serve as an archive.

While ago I have listened lot of songs on the CVGM and I feel disapointed that such classic site must be closed but I understand the difficulties in hosting. Do the copy and maybe we can open it again one day.

Thanks for all the years of effort, and I get it! One can only do this for so long, especially if it's out-of-pocket.

If it is just about the cost, please DM me with details and maybe I can scare up enough fundraising here to keep CVGM running, but I suspect it's about more than just the cost.

You can understand it. I have no idea how much money Fish has put into this, but it won't decrease over time, and the revenue won't be able to keep up. Everything is constantly getting more expensive, and now with the trade war, it will accelerate. It's impossible to predict how expensive this will all become. Somewhere, we have to cut back.

CVGM holds a special place in my heart. I've discovered many great tracks here. All the best to you guys.

The decision wasn't just purely financial, there were a few reasons with the system I was using. I am currently looking at an alternate setup in Canada, i'll post more info on that when I have it. If I can make it work, then I will switch the site over there and keep things going. while the new setup will be cheaper, the current one is more than $1k a year to maintain with everything figured in. Im waiting on a few things here, so once I know whats going on, I will post an update. Thanks, everyone!

Just a quick update. The site is going to stay live. Later this week, not sure which day yet, there will be. DNS change, so some people might have a small outage until the new location is propagated correctly. Again, I want to thank everyone who reached out with positive messages
